Tabbed UI – Smartphone issue

What do we need to modify to get rid of the search boxes in the headings for Cities, Groups, and Formats? We still want the information, but when accessing the site with a smartphone the keyboard always pops up obscuring the page. Is there an easy fix or is it just the way it is? Is it possible that the keyboard only gets called when clicking on the search box or is this a phone setting?
